Terrain Mosaics is a young, vibrant company started by a British and Australian couple working from their studio in the Pennine Hills of England.
Here at Surface Inc we believe that top end mosaics should be more accessibly priced and we are proud to introduce Terrain to the wider market as a fresher, more contemporary competitor to established top-end brands.
The beauty of Terrain Mosaics is that they are a small company combining artistic background on one side with the attention to detail brought by an experienced project manager on the other. Keeping the company small and local allows Terrain to control the overheads meaning that they can provide the quality of the likes of Bisazza at a fraction of the cost, using anything from Vitreous Glass to the finest Italian Smalti. Their flexible business model means they can cope with jobs of any size from domestic Interior Design projects to large, Architect driven developments.
Kevin Keeling, the Managing Director of Terrain says:
“The reason we're so much cheaper than our most obvious competitor is that we don't employ 'named' designers and we don't have massive overheads such as showrooms and international sales teams. We are happy keeping things personal, taking our clients from initial consultation to final fitting.”

We think there's potential for bars, clubs, reception desks and lobbies, spas, wet rooms, garden walls, conservatory floors. The list of applications is almost endless and the designs are regularly updated to take into account development of trends.
Terrain have recently worked on domestic projects in the UK and a hotel reception desk in the Middle East.
Terrain have the capability to work to photographic imagery, hand drawn designs, abstract or repeating patterns and will happily work on either designs from their own catalogue or bespoke projects.
All Terrain designs are mounted on silicon mesh for easy installation or on an easily removable breathable plastic facing rather than the standard brown paper facing. Both of these options allow complete clarity when installing and cut down on the need for fiddly cleaning.

Vitreous Glass: 10mm x 10mm or 20mm x 20mm
Goldlink Glass: 10mm x 10mm or 20mm x 20mm
Italian Smalti Glass: This glass is handmade and therefore varies in exact dimensions. Approximates to 10mm x 10mm if cut, 10mm x 20mm
Mini Murrini Crystal: 10mm x 10mm
Porcelain: 12mm x 12mm & 20mm x 20mm
Marble: 10mm x 10mm
Stained Glass: 20mm x 20mm
Grout tints are available in order to perfectly complement your design.
Although the majority of the tiles we use are suitable for any surface, we would not recommend stained glass for flooring or high traffic areas.
Due to the hand cut nature of Smalti, we specify that it is sanded once installed in order to eliminate sharp edges.
