Artist Statement
This work began as an attempt to expand my vocabulary of form. My goal was to develop the blown vessel by using cold processes to accentuate and, eventually determine the final shape. Elements of design in the work directly stem from applications of off-hand glassblowing and cold-working techniques. These pieces utilize the incalmo process, joining separate bubbles to create color bands. Color is a key element in my work, relationships of contrasting and complimentary colors are used to emphasize the shape of the vessel. I am constantly experimenting with my work, trying to innovate with technique and develop new forms.
