The Ombrae System was selected by Bing Thom and the project architects for its unique 3D sculptural Imaging qualities to cladd the entire outside surface of the new parking facility. The total area of coverage is approximately 18,000 sqft.
The System creates a continuous non repeating image of a cloudscape; the largest single image mural in North America.
As an engineering requirement the cladding material for the parkade had to have a minimum open air flow capacity of over 50%.
The Ombrae Ssytem with its punched 3D pixel technology more than satisfied this requirement.
The Design for the image was complied from over 100 original photographs and themed to integrate with the dramatic setting on the south facing slop directly in front of the historic campus center…a football pitch was created on the roof of the parkade with a park like setting to enjoy the view south to city of Calgary.
